Actually, he's parodying Hitler (Godwin'd from the start) which probably explains why he'd be deported (he certainly didn't like the film himself, it took the support of European Jews living under Hitler that encouraged him to continue working on the film and finally releasing it, strangely, a comedy parodying the Nazis doesn't seem to get shown much nowadays)
