Of course there is. There are a number of very real reasons, but we didn't want to hold anyone's hand and walk them through it. Better to let it have it's own effect. Otherwise it's ONLY offensive, or tasteless, or stupid, or horrible.
No, it IS offensive, tasteless, stupid and horrible.
Debating whether or not the government condoned/orchestrated/knew about/permitted the 9/11 events is a valid exercise. This, on the other hand, trivializes the innocent lives that were lost, regardless of who was involved or had knowledge.
You (or whoever) created a video montage and advertised it as an AFV production. I'm pretty sure you don't have the right of free speech which extends to insinuating that the ABC television show would put out this kind of montage. Their lawyers would probably have something to say about that, and they'd be right.
You're getting close but still missing the point. It has nothing to do with who executed/knew about the attackas and everything to do with the fact that it is ABSOLUTELY trivialized. It is jarring and offensive because it has to be. Because we gloss over jarring and offensive stuff everyday as if it's nothing. I do agree with you that we were out of line insinuating that it was specifically AFV. I have removed it for that reason and will re-post it later without that insinuation.
I'm not missing any point; you're missing mine. Two wrongs don't make a right. Societal indifference to war, violence, oppression, etc. does not make it right to perpetuate the cycle in this way. Put yourself in the shoes of the family member of a 9/11 victim. How do you think you'd feel if you came across this vid, thinking you were going to watch something light-hearted and funny, and then saw that image? MY point is that it's cruel to try to make YOUR point in this way. It lowers you to the level of those you're trying to shame. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to be part of a solution, but with this you're more a part of the problem.

Is there a point to putting a 9/11 plane hitting the WTC into a funny video montage?
