The short film, directed by Andy Morahan, shows a family enjoying a day on a beach, filmed for posterity by the father. An ever-louder roar breaks the tranquillity, and the hand-held camera pans to the sky to track a jumbo jet heading directly towards a nuclear facility just a few hundred metres away.

What a tupid video. It works for Japan and France. Nuclear Power is the perfect answer to our power problems. You morons at Greenpeace have heard of Phalanx have you? http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/weaps/mk-15.htm 3,000 of depleted uranium rounds make a evening a Boeing into paper aluminum foil. Well, then again the truth does not matter when you are pushing your political agenda.

Just in case you really need to take it out you have Slamram here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIM-120_AMRAAM and here it is all you need it one Humvee. http://www.grouchymedia.com/other_videos/slamraam_boom/index.cfm

Yeah the Phalanx worked great on 9/11. Anyway the scrap would probably still hit the family... !)

holmes on Feb 09, 2006 08:19 PM
Yeah, that's a pretty manipulative video.
iPodRob on Feb 10, 2006 07:46 AM
Hmmm... If anybody is thinking that Nuclear power is the magical solution to the worlds energy problems, we should think back to Chernobyl and what happend there. Also building a Nuclear plant is not a simple task, you can just turn one on in a second, also did I mention the waste problem? And whoops we missplaced some http://news.scotsman.com/inverness.cfm?id=203702006

ahhh more propoganda Goebbles would be proud, an over simplification of a complex idea! bzzzzzzzt

Living near a Nuclear power generating facility, I feel perfectly safe. Have you ever wondered how a boeing could travel through 7 16ft thick reinforced concrete walls and still be able to produce enough energy to destroy all of the control mechanisms of the reactor and continue the fission reaction? I certainly do. Also that Hummer garbage... there are measures that will disrupt any electronic device within 100m of the reactors facility (hence no cell phones, pacemakers. etc...) so that there is no risk of some one loading a vehical with explosives set to be detonated remotly. Ah.. but what about those that are manual (aka suicide?)? There are ARMED military personal with dogs (yes several dogs) at every check point into the area. What about all the area not under watch? Those are gaurded by two sets of 15ft tall barbed wire fences that enclose the whole facility. These fences also have a minor charge on them, so if they are touched an alarm will sound in the guard stations. So in conclsion, the only way to "blow up" a nuclear generating facility with todays terrorist weapons is pretty much with another nuclear bomb.... cause we all know that makes sense right?... Fucking conspiracy theorists.
meshyf on Feb 12, 2006 09:34 AM
Damnit I really wanted to see that explosion. :| No bomb for waste of time and lame ass greenpeace propaganda

i too wish they'd limit themselves to antiwhaling practices.
Voice of Ambience on Feb 22, 2006 01:28 AM
I would be interested to know what the comments would have been like if this film was distributed by someone else than Greenpeace. The Tchernobyl comment is right on the money. How can we be sure the nuclear facilities are really safe? Accidents do happen. And the waste disposal is a problem noone really seems to want to listen to. Storing it in the ground isn't an answer. What we are doing now is merely just sweeping the dirt under the rug.
Kuma on Feb 28, 2006 06:24 PM
Now if only Greenpeace had actual solutions for alternative energy, instead of just opposing whatever ones they don't happen to like today, I wouldn't mind the video. But as it is, Greenpeace has the attitude my 2-year-old daughter has - just say 'NO!' to everything and hope you get your way.
alphakry on Mar 07, 2006 09:01 AM
what propaganda crap.
Bronco46 on Mar 10, 2006 08:39 AM
What's Greenpeace going to use to power thier computers in the future? We need to continue to develop Nuclear Power Plants. And put our time and efforts into making sure once they are built they are safe. As for airplanes crashing into them. The containment vessels would not be penetrated.
ironic1 on Apr 14, 2006 08:46 AM
Y'know, I like Greenpeace and I still think this is a crappy bit of manipulative propaganda. Wow.
Aryding on Apr 14, 2006 05:31 PM
Yeah, this piece of propaganda was done horribly. Personally I wouldn't have even known there was a nuclear power plant there until they mentioned it. Come on Greenpeace!

mosher_28 on Apr 28, 2006 04:58 PM
Greenpeace are spot on once again. Kuma, greenpeace has plenty of solutions if you even do a bit of research and Hummer, I would guess you are american, and so I shall not even comment anymore on your somewhat worthless statement.
